trend electronic system
Hospitality and tourism is divided into four departments front
office is one of them. Front desk attends room bookings, registration of hotel
guests, guest relations assistance and other related matters. In small hotels
or accommodation establishments the room sales and reservations are also
handled by the front office. In the early years when guest visits different countries they used to send letters to hotels they wish to
visit for accommodation whereby at times it even took day’s to reach the
destination. The receptionist used to record guest details using the manual
management and organizational methods such as the traditional pen and paper
approach. But now with the new Trend’s things became easy whereby guest view
about the establishment they want to visit. They just call or book on line and their
details are recorded electronically.
This trend is very relevant in Namibia every 5 star hotels use ICTs
tool to book in guest. And as for VTCs they are doing a good job in level three
3 they introduce the innkeeper system whereby trainees are trained to book in
guest.
Big Thumps Up! To our Vocational Training Centres that are doing a great job in preparing trainees with the new trends that are expected in the industry. Training front office trainees on the innkeeper software it is a very smart way because when front office trainees complete their training they are required to do more booking. This skills will provide them with greater opportunities for them to be employed in 5 star hotels such as Windhoek Country Club Resort in Namibia.
