ICT is the driver of the new economy. New information and
communication technologies have dramatically changed the way we live, learn,
and work. Keeping up with the latest technology trends is essential for those
operating in the hospitality industry, because the industry itself is extremely
competitive. This means that those who fail to adapt can quickly find that they
are being left behind by hotel and travel companies that have implemented new
approaches and ideas. For example, in the picture above ICTs have penetrated
hospitality management at a fast pace, integrating the hotel operations
,reshaping the marketing function, improving tools for marketing research and
partnership building and enhancing customer service, while also providing
strategic opportunities.
Pros: Provide large range of information in short time. Satisfy, improve
the tourist service performance and quality and able to tailor the needs of
customers accordingly. Information
transmitted at a faster rate.
Cons: People may gain entrance to a system hosted on the internet to gain
access to any information that maybe confidential. Falsify information hence
leading to misrepresentation and loss of customers. People working at hotels as
managers, waiters, cooks and tour guides, lost their jobs to cut the cost and
by utilising the internet.
I agree with your statement technology has really improved the life of people,. especially when it comes to the providing of customer care. Because everything that is done is done to satisfy and provide good customer care, so with the new technology service is very fast and it contribute to the growth of the hospitality industry.
